The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two illustrious sons of Zaria—Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale and Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar.

Alhaji Hayatu Bambale, who held the esteemed title of Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, passed away on Thursday at the age of 78, while Malam Hadi Umar, Chairman of the Relationship Committee at the Speaker’s Constituency Office, breathed his last on Wednesday, aged 70.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker described their demise as a deeply personal loss, not only to him and their families but also to the entire Zazzau Emirate and Kaduna State.
Recalling moments shared with both late statesmen, Speaker Abbas said their humility, sense of duty, and abiding love for their people left lasting impressions on everyone who crossed their paths.
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihir Raji’un. I received the sad news of the passing of Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale, the Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, and Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar, Chairman of the Relationship Committee at my Constituency Office, with a heavy heart.
"These two noble men were more than community leaders—they were fathers, mentors, and true patriots. Their lives reflected commitment to faith, service, and humanity. They devoted their time, wisdom, and energy to lifting others and improving the welfare of our people.
“Zaria, Kaduna State, and indeed Nigeria have lost rare gems whose legacies will continue to inspire generations. May Almighty Allah forgive their shortcomings, grant them eternal peace, and reward their good deeds with the highest ranks in Aljannatul Firdaus,” the Speaker said.
Speaker Abbas extended his deepest condolences to their families, friends, associates, and the entire Zazzau Emirate and prayed to Allah to give them the fortitude and comfort in this difficult moment.
The late Alhaji Abubakar Hayatu Bambale, CNA, Sarkin Sudan of Zazzau, was the pioneer chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and a former state chairman of the Buhari Organization. He will be remembered for his courage, generosity, and enduring contributions to leadership and governance.
Malam Mohammed Hadi Umar was a respected teacher who served in several schools across the Zazzau Emirate until his retirement in 2015. He was also the chairman of the Elders’ Forum, Tudun Wada Ward, Zaria. He lived a life of quiet dignity, modesty, and guidance that touched countless lives within and beyond the community.
